Please keep up with all of my old Graphic Novel Reviews here as I quest for 365 in 365 days! Or search #365GN on Twitter.
Hey, all! I have some cool things coming your way in April, so make sure that you are checking back every day. I appreciate you for reading.
It’s not lost on me that I’m reviewing 365 books in 365 days, and some of my days are not book reviews. Well, as I learned fairly early on, I needed to occasionally discuss other things for three reasons: people had asked me to, I got mentally drained and needed to talk about some thing else, and when inspiration strikes…don’t ignore it. This is the first bit of advice I’d give people starting out on a 365 journey: expect deviations, and warn your audience. But to appease the naysayers, I’ve decided that I will extend the 365 one day for each non-review that I do, so it will actually be closer to 400 blog posts in a row when all is said and done. Take that, people that think I’m lazy!
Annnnyyyyway…the first day of C2E2 held five Pop Culture Classroom panels, and you should search my Twitter @comics_teacher to see some of the cool shout outs and pics that people shared today! We had some amazing guests, moderators, and panelists. My last panel of the day had Sarah Graley, Raina Telgemeier, Yehudi Mercado, Gale Galligan, Brigid Alverson, and Leila DeLuca. It was a star-studded time, and many amazing things were said (even by me!). I’ve always found the conversation on panels a much more valuable part of the con day than walking the show floor. I literally only spent about 35 minutes on the show floor today. I will wander over the course of the weekend, but the panel rooms are by far the most underrated part of the con world.
Pop Culture Classroom also got an exclusive one on one with RL Stine:
It was great to hear a master speak about his craft. Adam Ebert did Pop Culture Classroom proud with his interview! And if you’d like to hear Mr. Stine speak more about his craft, I’m moderating a panel for Scholastic on Sunday at C2E2 with Raina Telgemeier, RL Stine, and Gail Galligan. It will be in room S401 at 2:45-3:45. End your con weekend with us!
I’m going to bed. It’s been a long day, but I’ll have an honest to goodness book review for you tomorrow. Spoiler alert: it’s a comic that I got during my 35 minutes of show floor time today, and it looks funny as hell.
