This post is dedicated to letting you know about some cool things that I have in store for you this October, so make sure you clear your schedules and make time to check back in with me all month.
First of all, this upcoming week, I’ll be heading out to NYC to present at the New York Comic Con on a panel that I helped assemble titled “Super Girls: Using Comics to Engage Female Students in the High School Classroom.” If you happen to be up at NYCC this coming Thursday at 3:00, come check us out. I will be sure to post about my adventures in New York the Monday after I get back; hopefully I’ll have some amazing things to say.
That following Tuesday, my school begins its Teen Read Week celebration! I will be celebrating Teen Read Week by featuring student-review blogs that run from Tuesday-Friday. I have already discussed the idea with some of my students, and they are very excited to review some books for other students, teachers, and fellow readers as a whole. I hope you get to read those; I’m proud of my writers…I’ll be blogging on that Saturday to end the week by reflecting on the thoughts of my students.
On October 22nd, Ronell Whitaker (www.thecomicbookteacher.com) and I will be presenting with some great folks up at Follett on the benefit of using comics in the classroom to a room filled with (hopefully) eager English teachers looking to explore graphic texts in their classrooms; I will be reflecting on that amazing opportunity, so look for that post as well.
Oh! And I’ll have a couple of surprise guest bloggers the week of Halloween…
Lots of cool things coming up this month, and I hope you enjoy what’s to come.
Let me know what you love and what you’d like to see.
